London Report: National Theatre's "Angels" Is Divine

KenderTheater (‪@KenderTheater‬)

#AngelsinAmerica ‪@NationalTheatre‬ is stunning- a masterful production of a written masterpiece. This is theater at its absolute best.  The actors make Tony Kushner's words sing, with assistance from Marianne Elliot's beautiful direction and awe-inspiring physical production.  Although I have seen this show many times, this production is unquestionably one of the finest theater going experiences I have had.  The staging is uncharacteristic in that it veers from the usual minimalism, but it works in this meticulously conceived production.

London Report: A fun, but unfocused "Twelfth Night" at the Globe

KenderTheater (‪@KenderTheater‬)

8/5/17, 9:27 AM

#EmmaRice's Twelfth Night ‪at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre‬ is an unfocused mash of styles, but makes for a fun, humorous & enjoyable evening.  This is Ms. Rice's final directorial effort before her tumultuous Globe artistic directorship ends, but the audience appreciation for this production was palpable.

London Report: An explosive & powerful "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof"

KenderTheater (‪@KenderTheater‬)

8/4/17, 3:54 PM

London's ‪@youngvictheatre‬ explosive, powerful and engaging "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" is the best production of that show I've seen to date.  Jack O'Connell give a masterful & mesmerizing performance as Brick & makes Brick the engine that drives this show in a way I have never seen in prior productions of this play.  Benedict Andrews' deconstructivist staging may split some audience members, but I found it illuminating and captivating.

London Report: Harry Potter Play Misses The Mark

KenderTheater (‪@KenderTheater‬)

"Harry Potter & The Cursed Child" the Harry Potter play now playing at the Palace Theatre in the West End is beautifully staged but lacks genuine emotional connection & becomes tedious & repetitive.  The acting and writing is underwhelming. Admittedly, I am not the target audience for this two part marathon.

London Report: "The Ferryman" is Fantastic

KenderTheater (‪@KenderTheater‬)

8/2/17, 11:29 AM

Jez Butterworth's new play "The Ferryman" now playing in the West End direct from its ‪@royalcourt‬ run is an astonishingly powerful and darkly funny look at impact of Northern Ireland troubles and violence on a family caught in its cross-hairs. The writing and acting (by the largest cast of play I can recall) is masterful, such that it weaves a spellbinding tale that had me on the edge of my seat when I was not laughing.
