A reimagined, refreshed "Les Miserables" at Dallas Theater Center

KenderTheater (@KenderTheater)
"Les Misersables" @DallasTheater is a fresh, reinvigorated, modern and exciting take on the sung-through adaptation of the Hugo novel that yields the most emotionally resonant version I have seen.  Finely and fluidly directed by Liesl Tommy and expertly sung by its terrific cast, this is the first version of the musical I have seen that moved, rather than bored, me.

Movie Recommendation: Richard Linklater's Stunning "Boyhood"

KenderTheater (@KenderTheater)
Richard Linklater's "Boyhood" is a groundbreaking film and a stunning cinematic achievement about all of the little moments that add up to create a life.   It explores life, love, loss, family, adolescence and aging in subtle but wise ways.  Shot over 12 years during which the its central protagonist ages from 6 to 18, it is unlike anything I have ever seen in a non-documentary feature.  What results is one of the best films not just of the year, but ever.

Fountain Theatre Scores With "The Brothers Size"

KenderTheater (@KenderTheater)

Great acting fuses with outstanding writing in Tarrell Alvin McCraney "The Brothers Size" @fountaintheatre, which is one third of the epic "Brother/Sister Plays" trilogy.  Among the fine cast, worthy of particular note is actor Matthew Hancock whose performance as one of the titled brothers is simply transcendent.  The Fountain has now staged two of this trilogy's plays; I hope to see the third there soon.
